An Aga is the focal point of the home - the perfect site for a mural.

My designs race town and country kitchens across England from Suffolk to Cornwall. They are all unique but there is no mistaking my work. My tiles are inspired by nature and by the pottery styles of European majolica, faience and Delftware. They often feature hens and my own invented Bird, a long-beaked creature with splendid tail and beady eye. I love blues, greens, yellows and corals.

My tiles owe their rich texture to my painstaking four-day production process.

Day 1- I dip the bisc tiles by hand into a tin glaze and clean the back and edges.

Days 2/3 - I paint the dusty surface. The tiles are fired overnight to 1100 degrees Celsius.

Day 4 - The cooled glazed tiles are ready.

To order a mural all you need to do is measure and sketch the space you wish to decorate, including the position of any obstructions such as a flue. Send me these details, along with a general brief about the colours and the images you would like. Call me to discuss it - or make an appointment to visit me at my Devon pottery.

I can add personal details to the design, such as the name of your house (but it's best not to be over-prescriptive).

I will send you a sketch of the design for your approval and a quotation. And it all costs less than you would expect. There are two sizes of tile:

4.25 inches (108mm) square - prices from £7 each

6 inches (153mm) square - prices from £10 each.

These prices include design. Fitting is extra.)

These yellow hens with blue mistletoe sit well in the Aga recess of this sunny Suffolk kitchen.
Yellow and bluegreen mixed mistletoe picks out the soft colours on the cupboards with hens conversing right round this kitchen in Kent.
Splashbacks are generously 3 X 6-inch tiles high as seen in our kitchen, this time with yellow fuchsia pattern.
A 4-tile panel can be fitted into all sorts of places around the home - although not outside because of the risk of frost damage.
This Aga recess was designed for a lady with several grandchildren - my work often becomes biographical!
This arched mural worked well with the help of an expert tiler. This couple in Winchester particularly wanted greens to go with their Rayburn.
As featured in Country Life magazine, my characteristic Bird has become a favourite for tiles and pots alike.
This seashore under a wild sky provides plenty to look at for many years of happy bathing. I recently did a shower cubicle to match too.
1987.  The first tiles I ever did were for a home in Kent - the soft bluegreen mistletoe picking out the slender birds.  The cupboards were painted the exact matching creamy white of the tin glaze - most successful.
The owners specifically wanted partridge, pheasant & quail as well as hens for their light and airy Somerset kitchen.
Individual tiles can be crammed together for a full impact or dotted about amongst a plain coloured tile.  (152X152mm is a standard size).
This iris design fits well in a spacious modern kitchen - especially in one where there were enough characters in the pets without providing more with birds!

NB Any of my regular patterns can be used alone on the tiles to create frieses or murals or singles.
